You don't have to be in the Carpenters Union (if you're not a member you'll join the union after they hire you). You don't need any previous carpentry experience at all - they will teach you everything you need to know.

Attention Apprentices: Employment Opportunity

The Jacob Javits Convention Center will be taking on 25 new first year apprentices. This opportunity is being offered to all first year apprentices already in the union as well as anyone seeking employment in the NYC District Council Of Carpenters Apprenticeship Program.

Applications will be available to be picked up at the Labor Technical College between 8am and 3pm and must be filled out and returned to the Labor Technical College to be forwarded to the Javits Center on or before November 5, 2011.
